Probably not as fast as Page and Rushmore. To be fair, they’ve had prior experience.
On this occasion …
Yesterday we read a statement on the EGAR Facebook page regarding a court case in which the owner of the rescue had pleaded guilty to an 'error of judgement'. This was the first time we and clearly the vast majority of people had heard of ANY case against the rescue for any reason.
We have never had any reason to believe that there were issues with any of the animals there and had ourselves, along with many other organisations and authorities, sent several dogs to the rescue. We know the whereabouts of all of 'our' dogs and have been kept updated and know that they are fit, well and in good homes.
We have seen a number of photographs being circulated that were allegedly taken at EGAR. We took the decision to make no comment until official statements were released by both parties concerned. We understand that they were taken at an old block of kennels that had previously not been in use for a number of years and are located at an address entirely separate from the registered address of the rescue.
We don't know what happened, or why and we certainly weren't aware of any issues whatsoever prior to yesterday's statement. EGAR have rescued rehabilitated and rehomed hundreds of animals over the years, however the conditions shown in photographs released by the GSPCA today are clearly entirely unsuitable and shocking. We were only made aware of the legal action yesterday on reading the statement posted by EGAR themselves, and confirmed in today’s statement from the GSPCA We have nothing more to add as we know no more than anyone else and it seems less than some.”
There’s no honour among thieves – they hung Gunther out to dry to save their own skins – and they’ve done it before→ [link].
Perhaps Gunther will return the compliment.
Page and Rushmore claim to have known Gunther for the past ten years but also say they don’t actually know her. It’s always a bit dicey making it up as you go along. You’d think Page would have learnt a lesson.
By their own admission, in the entire ten years, Page and Rushmore have never met Sarah Gunther nor have they set foot anywhere near her ‘registered address‘ (let alone the spare one she had up the road). Their only contact with her was virtual, via forums and other social media, but that didn’t stop them sending vulnerable dogs to her, encouraging public donations and giving her a glowing character reference.
In their own defence they claim the PSNI and ISPCA also sent dogs to EGAR but, as we recently told The Lav, there’s no evidence to show that anyone inside the PSNI or ISPCA took part in the Save Lennox bashing.
You couldn’t make it up – having never clapped eyes on Sylvia Sarah Gunther, Page, Rushmore, Phillips and the rest of the HC, without any hesitation whatsoever, backed that vile female to the hilt for years, including orchestrating the witch hunt of Lennox’s family, friends and supporters, entirely based on what Gunther and Lightfoot told them.
Page and Rushmore were certainly cosy with Gunther – a couple of months after registering Deed not Breed as a company in July 2007 (06325487), Gunther announced how proud she was to be a founder member of Deed not Breed Ireland:
In a carefully worded attempt at damage limitation to their abysmal reputations, Deed not Breed say they ‘understand that (the photographs) were taken at an old block of (disused) kennels at another location‘ — Well, that’s alright then, just so long as the dead dogs belonging to Gunther weren’t found at her ‘registered address‘! Not the most cold and stupid thing they’ve ever said in their defence, but it’s not far off.
“This was the first time we ….. had heard of ANY case against the rescue for any reason.”
Well, if you’re drowning in your own duplicity, you may as well go for broke.
We all knew, and so did many others (including Page and Rushmore) that Gunther had received a visit from the GSPCA in 2013, which culminated in the court case on 9th July 2014.
In any case, it’s a foregone conclusion that Gunther would have covered her backside and told them, because she knew her secret was already out —
In fact, we covered it briefly in September last year – [ link ]
Page and Rushmore knew about that visit and the court case, and they couldn’t fail to know she’d been raided before. So common was that knowledge that even we knew the court case had been postponed at least twice, and we certainly weren’t privy to exclusive information – it was out there for anyone to find.
However, it’s highly unlikely they knew what was really going on at EGAR because, as contemptible and conniving as Page and Rushmore can be, we don’t believe those traits extend to dogs in general (with the exceptions of Lennox and Fudge unfortunately), but the fact is they admit to relying on other people for testimonials about Gunther over the past ten years.
For someone they’ve never allegedly met face to face, they certainly did a good job of singing her praises, based on other people’s recommendations.
Why were they so willing to believe everything Gunther said? Either because they were more personally acquainted with her than they admit or, more likely, because it suited their spiteful characters, which accounts for the close friendships they have with Lightfoot, Tallack and Delaney.
A better matched bunch of fishwives we’ve yet to encounter.
According to Page and Rushmore they always knew the dogs sent to Gunther were safe. !?Since they’ve never been to EGAR, how is that possible?
Maybe Lightfoot told them after her visit south of the border last year, when she and Gunther organised a photoshoot:This is the much-touted Bruce.
Fortunately for Bruce, Gunther used him as a cash-cow; a means to reap publicity and donations, hence the reason he is healthy and happy. Lucky Bruce.
Not so lucky this much-publicised foal:
Gunther wasted no time in using this little animal for her own purposes. After gaining praise and admiration for her ‘selfless act of kindness‘ rescuing a foal the mother allegedly had rejected, she stuck him in a crate in a home with heavy smokers, several dogs, cats and Anyone’s Guess what else while she spent her days trolling Facebook.
This poor mite died shortly after that photo was taken. The cause of death (according to Gunther) was respiratory complications.
It’s true that very young foals don’t do well without mum, and Gunther claimed he already had health issues, but this little man had no chance once he fell into her mucky hands. He was just another victim used by Gunther to gain sympathy and support, for herself.
Gunther was never equipped to take on a sickly or orphaned foal, and she knew it, but instead of asking for advice or, better still, allowing someone more qualified to take him because her own knowledge and set-up was totally inadequate, she simply saw another opportunity to boost her warped ego and bank balance, and this tiny animal’s fate was sealed.
Which brings us back to Page and Rushmore‘s previous solidarity with Gunther. Could it be that Lightfoot assured them all was well and dogs sent to EGAR were in good hands? And would that be the same Lightfoot who got away with perjuring herself in court; the same Lightfoot who stalked Lennox’s family before and after his death?
Actually no, because Lightfoot met Gunther at a pre-arranged venue far away from EGAR’s location. In fact the meeting place was so random, the Bruce photoshoot took place in a car park!
Similarly, Rushmore‘s husband Steve Rushy and his mate Ted Ismay had the chance to inspect EGAR when they dropped five puppies off in 2012:
Again, this was another pre-arranged venue, nowhere near Gunther’s EGAR location. Five vulnerable puppies, just dropped off to people they didn’t know from Adam. They didn’t even meet Gunther.
A golden opportunity missed yet again – all that way just to get tanked up and bladdered.
On the one hand Page and Rushmore plead ignorance based on how unreasonable it is to expect them to know what went on at EGAR, and on the other hand they apparently have such strict principles and moral codes:
Like we said, you couldn’t make it up.
